The city of Los Altos is happy announce the completion of Phase 1 of establishing two fenced-in dog parks at the Hillview Soccer Field and McKenzie Park. City Council and the Parks & Recreation Commission hosted ribbon cutting ceremonies on June 29, 2022.

Phase 2: Design

Phase 2 of the project is currently underway and will help determine the permanent features of the Hillview dog park. Parks & Recreation is hosting feedback opportunities for residents to share what features they would like to see.

Dog Park Hours

6 AM - One hour after sunset

Dog Park Rules

  • Immediate clean up after your dog(s) is mandatory. Dispose of dog waste in the containers provided (M.C. 5.08.010.B.1)
  • Dogs must be licensed, vaccinated, and wearing a collar with ID and license tag (M.C. 5.12.010)
  • Owners must monitor and manage their dogs at all times
  • You may be subject to citation for off leash activity outside of the dog park
  • Dogs considered to be aggressive may be asked to leave (M.C. 5.08.060)
  • Puppies less than four (4) months old are prohibited
  • Female dogs in heat are prohibited
  • A maximum of three (3) dogs per handler
  • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Handlers must prevent dogs from digging
  • Dog treats only, all other food is prohibited
  • The City of Los Altos assumes no liability for the users of these areas - use these facilities at your own risk
  • Failure to comply with the posted rules and regulations shall constitute a violation of M.C. 5.08.010 of the Los Altos Municipal Code
  • All other Public Parks (M.C. 9.24) and Animal Control Regulations (M.C. 5.08) shall remain in full effect

OWNERS ARE LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE AND LIABLE FOR ACTION OF THEIR DOGS AND INJURIES OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR DOGS
