The Los Altos Police Department uses Twitter and Facebook to send and receive information about what is going on in the City of Los Altos and other cities nearby.

Facebook - 'Like' and Follow

Facebook is used similar to Twitter, to send and receive information and updates as they pertain to Los Altos and other nearby communities. Be sure to "Follow" our page to be sure you see our updates in your Newsfeed.

Nextdoor

If interested in receiving news and information from Los Altos Police Department, follow us on Nextdoor. Nextdoor is a trusted platform where neighbors work together to build stronger, safer, and happier communities. Los Altos Police Department has the ability to send information on Nextdoor but we are not part of a Nextdoor neighborhood, therefore we do not monitor conversations. If a neighbor is talking about a crime or suspicious occurrence on Nextdoor, encourage them to contact the Los Altos Police Department.

AlertSCC

AlertSCC is a powerful mass notification system that will be used to send emergency information and instruction to anyone who lives or works in Santa Clara County. AlertSCC will send messages to phone numbers included in the emergency 911 and 411 directory listings, as well as any additional devices you elect to register. By submitting your contact information, Santa Clara County and the City of Los Altos will be able to keep you informed of local events and regional emergencies. Alerts can include: 

  • Fire
  • Earthquake
  • Severe weather
  • Crime incident that affects your neighborhood
  • Instructions during a disaster​

TipSoft Alerts

This is an informational text messaging and email alert service that allows Law Enforcement to communicate with the public regarding events in your area such as crime, fugitives, Amber Alerts, and emergencies.  Subscribe today to ensure you receive important emergency alerts and community messages via email and/or text message.

CityProtect Incident Map

The CityProtect tool provides the ability to view crime incidents from Los Altos and other reporting jurisdictions.  While the map is not real-time, the data is uploaded every 24 hours. You can view up to one year of data, and can filter to see specific time periods.  Note: you will need to enable Javascript in order to view the crime map.

In addition to the crime incident map, CityProtect also enables you to view national sex offender data, submit an anonymous tip, and sign-up for free, automated, email crime alerts.
