The City will be making regular updates to this webpage in order to keep the community informed of development projects and other events impacting traffic and parking in the downtown area. Please read on for a summary of upcoming projects including dates and areas that will be impacted.
Friday, October 17 – Thursday, October 23
Portions of southbound First Street between State Street and Main Street will be closed intermittently between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The closures will allow for right-of-way improvements to be completed in front of the 400 Main Street development. Northbound traffic and Plaza Central will remain open throughout the construction period.
Monday, October 20 - Wednesday, October 22
Due to sidewalks being built around the new hotel at 1 Main Street, the southbound lane of N San Antonio Road will be closed to vehicular traffic. A small section of roadway on Main Street in front of the new building will also be closed; however, right hand turns onto N San Antonio Road will still be permitted.
SPECIAL EVENT: Friday, October 24
Main Street will be closed between First Street and N San Antonio Road from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the Los Altos High School Homecoming Parade.
Saturday, October 25
A portion of Parking Plaza South (near N San Antonio Road) will be inaccessible between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. while Comcast replaces pavement that was disturbed during a recent service upgrade. The Plaza will reopen by 11:00 a.m. and will be available for parking.
SPECIAL EVENT: Friday, October 31
Second Street will be closed between State Street and Plaza Central from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the Los Altos Village Association Halloween Spooktacular.

As part of the City’s ADA Accessibility CIP Project, the southbound lane of San Antonio Road between Whitney Street and Parking Plaza South (in front of the Los Altos Grill) will be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The lane closure is necessary to allow for the removal and replacement of curb, gutter, sidewalk and ramps per ADA compliant standards. Traffic control measures will be in place.
Saturday, November 1
First Street will be closed between W Edith Avenue and Shasta Street from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to allow for street reconstruction and paving activities. Motorists are encouraged to use Second Street as an alternative.
