NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY
DRAFT CLIMATE ACTION PLAN
July 9, 2013
The City of Los Altos has completed its Draft Climate Action Plan, which outlines the strategy for reducing the community’s greenhouse gas emissions. To download a copy, click here. The Draft Climate Action Plan is consistent with the State’s Global Warming Solutions Act (State Assembly Bill 32 passed in 2006), which directed public agencies in California to support the statewide goal of reducing GHG emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
The Climate Action Plan includes a range of incentives, education, and regulations within five focus areas – Transportation, Energy, Resource Conservation, Green Community and Municipal Operations – to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions. The Plan’s reduction measures would be applicable to both new and existing development. Full implementation of the reduction measures contained in the Climate Action Plan would reduce the community’s 2020 emissions by 15,640 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents (MTCO2e), which would help the City achieve a 17-percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.
The Draft Climate Action Plan is available for public review and/or purchase at the City of Los Altos Planning Division at City Hall, 1 N. San Antonio Road, Los Altos, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A copy is also available for review at the Los Altos Library, 13 South San Antonio Road, Los Altos, California and online at www.LosAltosCA.gov.
The City is providing a 45-day public review period for the Draft Climate Action Plan. Written comments should be submitted to the City by Friday, August 23, 2013, at 5:00 p.m.
